STATEMENT OF FAITH

ABOUT GOD

We believe the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, that it is God’s holy and inspired Word, and that it is of supreme and final authority for believers to be equipped as disciples of Christ. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, Hebrews 4:12, Psalm 119:105)

We believe there is one God, eternally existing in three persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14)

We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, our Lord, that He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary. He led a sinless life, took on Himself all our sin, suffered and died on the cross as a propitiation for our sins and bodily rose to life on the third day. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father as our mediator and advocate. (John 1:1-3,14, Colossians 2:9-10, Matthew 1:23, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Romans 3:23-26, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Hebrews 7:25 1 John 2:1)

We believe in the physical return of Jesus Christ for the final judgment and the full establishment of His kingdom. (Acts 1:11, Matthew 24:30, Revelation 20:11-15, Philippians 2:10-11)

ABOUT SALVATION

We believe God created humanity, men and women in His image. We also believe that all humans everywhere are separated from God by our very nature and stand opposed to God and His law. Therefore, all humanity stands in condemnation and faces the judgment of God. We believe that God made a way for humanity to be redeemed back to himself by grace through faith in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and are thus declared righteous before God. (Genesis 1:26-27, Romans 3:23-26, Romans 5:12)

We believe that, when people place their faith in Jesus by repenting of their sins and confessing Jesus as Lord, they are sealed with the Holy Spirit who empowers them to live a godly life and to advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 5:8 Ephesians 1:13-14, Romans 8:9)

We believe salvation is freely offered to all people in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There is no other way to be saved than by confessing Jesus Christ as Lord and placing your faith in His finished work on the cross. (John 14:6, Romans 10:9, Acts 4:12)

ABOUT EVANGELISM

We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells the life of every believer, and in living out Christ’s character, we must have concern for the hurts and social needs of our fellow men, especially young people. (Acts 1:8, Galatians 5:22-23, John 13:34-35)

We believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ must be communicated to all people in all places. (Matthew 28: 19-20, Romans 10:14-15)

We believe that all Christians are called to the ministry of evangelism and are empowered by the Holy Spirit to accomplish the Great Commission. (1 Corinthians 9:22, 2 Timothy 4:2, Ephesians 2:10, Ephesians 4:11-12)

We believe in the unity of Christians gathered in the body of Christ, the Church. We believe that the church exists to glorify and worship God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The ministry of the Church is an extension of Jesus Christ. YCI, as a parachurch organization, is to work alongside and support the Church as a partnering entity to accomplish this mission.
